The Grozdanova Sisters are a filmmaking duo who tell international and character-led stories. Biliana and Marina founded their own production company in 2012 under the name of EL JINETE FILMS, inspired by the long time they lived in Spain. After shared years at the University of Chicago, they co-directed two feature music documentaries that jump-started their film careers: Ortigueira: Ecos de Finis Terrae and The Last Kamikazis of Heavy Metal. After spending several years apart working in the film industry, they now reside in NYC where they recently completed their first feature narrative film Eastern Western.
Originally from Bulgaria, the sisters grew up traveling the world. From Australia's East Coast to Canada's West and many places in between, they were exposed to a diversity of cultures and developed an immense passion for international and adventure-based storytelling.
Cameron Wheeless is a longtime collaborator with El Jinete Films: DP, editor and producing partner. After years in the Hollywood industry, working in the camera department, VFX, locations, and more, he transitioned to independent filmmaking and documentary work after invaluable experience as operator and DP for Italian director Roberto Minervini.
Brandon Regina is the most recent addition to El Jinete Films, joining as a co-producing partner and member of the Camera Department.
